Yasmin Hernandez Art
Nébula Albizu, small archival giclée print
5 x 7 (image) inches on fine art paper (6 1/4 x 8 1/2)
$35

Print of my 2015 original painting featuring Puerto Rican liberationist Pedro Albizu Campos as a nebula. Created for the fiftieth anniversary of his April 21st, 1965 transition. The nebula is painted in red and blue, colors of the Puerto Rican flag, also the colors of hydrogen and oxygen as reflected in space, colors of the elements prevalent in our bodies, and in water.

Black Backgrounds have been part of my creative practice since 2009 in honor of Vieques’ bioluminescent bay and that took on new meaning after living through Hurricanes Irma and Maria and their dark aftermath.
