Yasmin Hernandez Art
1950 Remix, 2019
Archivos Subversivos series
Enhanced print and gold paint on black cardstock
5 x 7 inches

This is a small enhanced print of my 2007 Mixed media work "1950" from my Archivos Subversivos series. The image is one of many scenes of the thousands that were rounded up and arrested by the US National Guard following the revolution that spread across Borikén (the main island of Puerto Rico) in 1950 to end US colonialism.

Remixes are intimate alternatives to the usual print reproduction as each one is enhanced and remixed to create a new, unique, original work of art combining collage, color pencil, ink, acrylic paint, or other materials.
